Very glad smosh cast/crew are okay. hope that continues to be the case, and that everyone takes all the time they need to regroup from this.
Ended up pulling together a number of links from ones people (including the smosh folks) have been sharing and others ive been seeing over the course of the day, so compiling and posting it both for me to have on hand and in case other folks find it helpful.
@/mutualaidla on instagram has a number of resources if you either would like to give to local mutual aid efforts or are in need of any. This post compiles screenshots of resources from their story today. It includes places to give resources, places to get resources, where to get info/alerts if youre near the area, shelters, etc. This post by LocaleMagazine, similarly, compiles resources/information to get help/give help.
The LA Times, The Cut, and Time all have articles/instagram posts compiling ways for folks outside to help. (LA Insta post, the Cut article, the Time article).
For folks whose homes have been impacted, or know anyone whose homes have been impacted, this post from the LA Times outlines some steps that can be taken.
For information about go bags, staying up to date on alerts, evacuation tips, etc lafd.org can be used for alerts. readyla.county.gov can be used for text alerts, as well as information about what to pack in go bags/evacuation tips. For apps, both WatchDuty and the NWS (National Weather Service) app appear to be widely used atm.
Laatly, this post from Ify + the exploitative nature of the US carceral system, as firefighters risk their lives is. good to keep in mind.

Minor rambles
Finally got to making a kofi in advance whenever I decide to open up for commissions. Which is not any time soon but probably after I get my yandere vn called MDS all in order.
I’ve made a new blog to help me keep on track of my to do list in terms of what I need to finish for my upcoming game projects. Since I’ve got three main love interests from 3 separate categories.
M.D.S = Monster gang (Uriel the Incubus)
B.O.H = Spin-offs (Quio the Dilf)
O.S.Y = Hitman Team (Danny the Boss)
I haven’t posted anything yet but it’s @4-dsimpvns for those who’re wondering. And it’s an Adult 18+ blog only! As said yandere visual novels will contain NSFW.
Like I said before in regards to MDS, Azrael’s introduction has been finished the only two left are Jericho and Uriel’s. I pretty much have all the sprites in order but still need to polish off some CGIs with the differing MC’s Down below ⬇️

ramble about FreeBSD and Unix~~
how out of my depth would I be trying to install FreeBSD?
would it even boot on my machine?
am I smart enough to go through the install for the system itself as well as get the GUI that I want?
I think you have to go through the command line for quite a bit of time before you get a GUI up and running....
I started off being really interested in BSD/Unix in high school, and tried to fiddle around with a BSD live disc thing in a book (that I don't remember the name of) and then only fiddled around with Linux.
I've been watching videos on youtube of people expressing how stable FreeBSD's modern release is~~
I want to use it on my own hardware; but that's a problem with it I believe, is that it works on sort of limited amount of hardware, as opposed to Linux, that you could even run on a toaster...
Is it really that much harder to deal with than Linux?
Of course I've only dealt with a few distros~~ the rundown of distros I've messed around with are;
Ubuntu (not anymore tho)
Debian (current os being Linux Mint Debian 6)
OpenSUSE briefly (tried to get my sibling to use it on their laptop, with them knowing next to nothing about Linux, sorry...)
Fedora back in high school, I ran it on a laptop for a while. I miss GNOME....
Mageia (I dual booted it on a computer running windows 7, also in or right after high school, so a long time ago)
attempted GhostBSD but it wouldn't boot after install from the live CD (also many years ago at this point)
I like to hop around and (hopefully now I have, yeah right...) I can't make up my mind which I actually want to use permanently.
Linux Mint Debian edition is really good so far tho~~!!
Current PC is an ASUS ROG Stryx (spelling?) that I bought on impulse many years ago~~ Was running windows 10, fixed the issue and now use the OS stated above~~
or maybe I should maybe ditch Mint and run straight Debian... Thought of that too. and it might have an easier time installing and actually booting than FreeBSD on this machine...
but then BSD and by extension unix is meant to be used on older hardware and to be efficient both in execution of things, and space.
"do one thing and do it well" iirc was a bit of the unix philosophy...
yeah, no I HATE technology /heavy sarcasm/

idk, its low on actual cost and the cost on your moral conscious. Which is an important cost for some pilots.
I do not deny that the Kobold is cheap provided you have spare mining equipment, I said its an active hazard to yourself and others.
I don't know, advertising to people that they should pilot those things when they have literally any other option seems morally questionable. The tactics my frame uses aren't particularly moral, but I am not advertising to random kids that they should run a blockade to learn how to use it, and I'm especially not telling them to strap an active reactor to their back.

hi darling!! for the wip word game: brother and blush/blushing
laurie my love <333
brother (from operation wanker, because thats the only wip the word is mentioned in)
“James, are you going to take me to some rock concert or something?” James can’t help himself, he actually laughs at Regulus’ obvious distress that this might be what James came up for with a date. “I’m not, I did actually remember which Black brother I’m taking out, don’t worry. Although, if you fancy, there is a laser show in a couple hours where they play some rock songs as well?” “I think I’ll pass, thank you,” Regulus says decisively. “Kind of expected as much. I might take Sirius there some time though…” “I can’t believe I’m going out with someone who’s talking about taking my brother out while on our date,” Regulus mutters.
blush (from borrow my name. i make reg blush far too fucking much oops)
“My washing machine broke,” James says with a grin this time when Regulus opens his door, “You don’t happen to have a shirt I can borrow?” James hasn’t managed to take Regulus by surprise since that first time he came knocking on his door. The fact the he stands frozen in his doorway now, staring at James’ bare chest with a deep blush across his cheeks despite having seen James naked several times over the past couple weeks makes James grin with satisfaction. “Well? What do you say? Wanna help out your needy neighbour?” That seems to finally unfreeze Regulus. “Needy now, is he?” “Very much so,” James agrees. “Can I come in?”

Introduction: Coin Dispensers in the Digital Age
In a world leaning toward digital transactions, many business owners ask: Are coin dispensers still relevant in 2025? The short answer is yes—and more than ever, businesses across laundromats, car washes, and vending operations are turning to modern coin dispensers to bridge the gap between cash reliance and operational efficiency.
For industrial business owners in the USA, the evolution of eco-friendly quarter dispensers presents a compelling blend of traditional convenience and sustainable innovation.
Why Modern Coin Dispensers Remain Essential
Despite the surge in cashless payments, over 18% of all transactions in the U.S. are still made in cash. That means many businesses—especially those operating in high-volume, low-ticket environments—must still manage physical currency efficiently.
A modern coin dispenser ensures:
Fast, reliable coin distribution
Reduced wait times at self-service terminals
Enhanced customer satisfaction
Fewer staff hours spent handling change
Whether you're running a laundromat in Chicago or a car wash in Texas, a robust coin system is still part of your bottom line.

answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:
tl;dr:
israel lets very, very little aid get into gaza. even the UN can't get in as much as they want to. funding individual families, gazan led initiatives, and mutual aid collectives operating out of gaza ensures gazans can provide for themselves and pay for the extremely expensive aid that is available.
with all the civil infrastructure destroyed by israel, the situation on the ground has devolved into unrestricted capitalism, driving up the price of aid (that should be free!). this makes it more urgent for people to have funding for daily survival.
the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.
as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.
the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.
ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.
and the municipality of gaza itself is fundraising to rebuild water infrastructure.
all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!
long answers under the cut!
Tumblr media
if you wanna donate to a charity that's absolutely fine, but the thing is most charities (and even the UN!) are unable to make it into gaza in the first place, leaving aid rotting at the egyptian side of the border or subject to israeli settler attacks
not to mention, charities and nonprofits also maintain a paternalistic colonial relationship with the indigenous people they are trying to help, determining what aid they need for them instead of returning power to them and letting them make their own choices
i'm not here to say that one option is better than the other, just that they achieve different things and are equally legitimate. there's an attitude among people who question the legitimacy of these gofundme campaigns that somehow the people promoting them are telling them not to donate to charities. nobody is stopping you from donating to charities. we are just asking that you do not dehumanize the very real gazans in your inbox just because their method of asking for aid is more direct and risky.
Tumblr media
unfortunately that's exactly what has happened. because israel destroyed all of gaza's more formalized infrastructure, it seems that organized crime and rampant inflation has taken its place. aid is supposed to be free, but in order to save for evacuation or the cost of living, people have started selling them at an inflated price. and aid that is truly free attracts intense, large crowds that are dangerous to navigate.
Tumblr media
this was posted on abc a few days ago
it's pure, unrestrained capitalism. i've had multiple palestinians describe this situation to me confidence. that's why everything's so expensive now. why people have to rent out tiny plots of land for their tents to sit on, why my friend @siraj2024 still has to buy tarps to cover the broken windows of the overpriced bombed out apartment he rented, and why a bag of flour can cost a thousand bucks in the north.
even before israel closed and then bombed the rafah crossing, the egyptian hala travel agency was only allowing people to cross the border if they paid a hefty $5000 USD per adult / $2500 USD per child bribe. it denies doing this, but the hundreds of stories from palestinians say otherwise.
with regard to the economy, here in america we saw something similar happen in the wake of hurricane helene and milton. the podcaster margaret killjoy describes how she saw dual economies rise after asheville was fully cut off from the rest of the country - some people offered each other supplies for free in a sort of mutual aid honor system, and some people required payment when they lent supplies because they themselves needed to buy stuff for their families. these dual economies exist in gaza too. and this means they all still need money to survive.
